Anderjam (/an'dəʁjaɱ/) is the capital of Vereva and with a population of nearly 7.25 million, it is its third most populous city. It lays about the center of the nation at the point where all the city-states come together. As one of the oldest and longest surviving civilizations on the continent, it has remained a center of religious importance, politics, philosophy, art and commerce for the Verevian peoples as well as for other populations of Latelen.

History
Anderjam was settled circa 130 BCE, about 820 years after a long era in which various Latelen peoples crossed the northern and central Kashdrav to arrive in the southern regions. The area, which is covered in rolling hills, was previously uninhabited due to the difficulty that had existed in tilling and harvesing crops. It wasn't until late 136 BCE, when the eruption of the Vittaschtfaronhal volcano entrusted rich magmeous soil to the previously unfarmable lands surrounding it, that peoples from surrounding regions were able to move in and settle the harsh lands.
The Nation
Anderjam was initially settled as a small country of post-Vittaschtfaronhal herders and farmers. It was populated mainly by people of neighboring Alessajndrjana, Adeelie and Kalbin regions who wished to claim their own land. Many of the indigenous peopls thought the land to be cursed after the eruption of the volcano, but upon seeing how flora flourished through the magmeous soil, decided to use the new soil to their advantage.
The nation of Anderjam didn't take an official form of government until 35 BCE, when the Fielosheim religion of Alessajndrjana influenced it to become a religious oligarchy under the Lwefriej family. The family established their home of Eviesse as the national capital. Because Eviesse laid on the border between Anderjam and Alessajndrjana, many citizens were strongly against the decision, believing that a country whose main city bordered another country would put its citizens at risk of invasion or foreign influence.
While under Anderian law freedom of religion was protected likely due to the country's development from divulging cultures, this wasn't true of Alessajndrjana during the era. This freedom in religion caused many oppressed Alessajndrjans to pick up and relocate to Anderjam.
The City-State
Anderjam joined the Union of Verevian States as its head state upon its initial realization in 197. It would remain the head state until its status was dropped and Vereva would receive its first metropolitan capital in 1112.
As a city-state, Anderjam is noted to have contained two of ancient Vereva's most important cities, Weręwe and Eviesse. Weręwe, modernly the suburb of Palmeire, is the city from which the country name Vereva is derived.
The City
In 1112, Anderjam dropped its status as a city-state, dividing its territory to Ąsje and Adølie. Its largest city, Eviesse, changed its name thus to Anderjam and became the capital city of modern-day Vereva.
Government
As its modern capital, Anderjam is the city in which all final political, social, economical and international decisions are made in Vereva.
