The hyldian reindeer (MH11223-V2) hyl. Vajga hyildien is a deer from the Arctic and Subarctic including both resident and migratory populations. The hyldian reindeer vary in color, brown (MH11223-V2a), white (MH11223-V2b) and (MH11223-V3), red (MH11223-V2c) and black (MH11223-V2d), and both sexes grow antlers, though these are larger in the males.

Size
The females usually measure 180-220 cm in length and weigh 110-140 kg, the males measure 200-250 cm in length and weigh 140-170 kg. The subspecies from Meirma island (MH11223-V3) is smaller compared to other subspecies on Talvia (a phenomenon known as insular dwarfism) with as mush a a half meter shorter.
Species and spread
The color of the fur of the hyldian reindeer varies both individually, and depending on season and subspecies. The most common subspecies have brown fur (MH11223-V2a) with black and/or white dots, but their color gets whiter in the winter. They live in the moutains of Seþtien in the summer and at the coast of Daelien in the winter. The white reindeers (MH11223-V2b) does also live in Seþtien the whole year. The meirman reindeer (MH11223-V3) has also a white fur.
The red (MH11223-V2c) and black (MH11223-V2d) reindeer live on the highlands of Lupma in east Hyldia. Their fur get lighter in the winter but not as white as the fur of the other subspecies.
Antlers
Both sexes grow big antlers, but these are larger by the males. The size of the males antlers can range up to 130 cm.
Husbandry
Brown and white reindeers have been herded for centuries by some people in Seþtien and Daelien and they are raised for their meat, hides and antlers and to a lesser extent also for milk and transportation. Reindeer are not considered fully domesticated, as they generally roam free on pasture grounds. In traditional nomadic herding, reindeer herders (especially brown reindeers herders) migrate with their herds between coast and inland areas according to an annual migration route, and herds are keenly tended.
Economy
The reindeer has an important economic role for the people at the mountain chain of Geruma. It is believed that domestication started very early in Hyldia and the owners also use the reindeer to ride on. Reindeer meat is popular in Hyldia and Reindeer meat is very tender and lean. It can be prepared fresh, but also dried, salted, hot- and cold-smoked.
