Death Penalty
-
Salian Empire: In lieu of the death penalty for manslaughter, the Salian government allows citizens with a high enough status to view public gladiator matches to the death. The winning gladiator is put into lifetime military service and kept together with other winning offenders who are put into the front line of battle if ever a battle takes place. However, for murder, one is sentenced to death by tossing. In other words, they will be tossed off the Salian plateau. Also, if somebody attempts to enter Lower Nezauloðia or Inner Salia without permission and are unable to present proper permission to the guards at the entrances and refuse to leave the premises, they will be killed on site by any means necessary.
-
Nithalosia: The death penalty in Nithalosia is still implemented for some crimes and is usually done by means of a public hanging till death. In extreme cases, public stoning may be allowed, or in controversial cases, the hanging will be taken behind closed doors.
-
Vösia: The death penalty in Verscie is implemented, and usually carried out behind closed doors, and done by a means of lethal injections. People under the age of 18 are given immunity, and sent to jail, but their case can be reassessed later on. Verscie tries to maintain the peace within the public, however under some circumstances, some people can be shot to death on sight.
-
Toitūkōlad: The death penalty in Toitūkōlad is still implemented for certain crimes and is carried out by means of beheading or hanging, depending on location and crime. Some crimes which are listed with prison sentences may also have a punishment of death, depending on circumstances.
-
Safiria: Since 1971, the only method of execution in Safiria is by the electric chair (which has been in use since 1902), unless otherwise specified by the Crown. Hangings and firing squads were used before 1971.
-
Elsendo: Death penalty is very rare because Elsendo'ans rarely commit very serious crimes, but if it happens, it is done by beating with a stone rod unless otherwise stated.
-
Hyldia: Death penalty is not used in Hyldia. The last sentence to death penalty in Hyldia was 1969.
-
Samarkainia: Death penalty is not used in Samarkainia. Death penalties have been forbidden for the past 500 years.
-
Vereva: Alike the penalty in Verscie, the death penalty in Vereva is usually carried out behind closed doors, and done by a means of lethal injections but death by means of firing squad and gladiator match also exist. Those who opt for gladiator matches may walk away freely, relieved of their crime should they survive the series of battles. People under the age of 18 are given immunity, and sent to jail, but their case can be reassessed later on.
Eperne: As retribution is the basis of the Epernean law system, only those crimes which involve murder or infection with deadly diseases are punished with death penalty. Death penalty is carried out privately by hanging in death chambers, the condemned inmate is informed along with his family the morning of the execution day and he can choose his last meal. Minors cannot be executed, however, their tutors are entitled to pay in remuneration to the deceased's family the value of three-quarters of their property.
