Saaret consists of three small islands located a little bit north from the equator of Daia. The nearest country to the north is Samarkainia. Saaret was earlier in its history somehow isolated due to its position, but saaretians have always been dare-devilish people who sail around and make acquaintance with any other countries and people in the world. Saaretians are famous of their skills as seamen and shipbuilders. Earlier Saaret was the biggest producer of guano, but mining of guano has lessened nowadays. Saaret is relatively well prospering country with no big problems, neither politically nor economically.

Etymology
The name of this country - Saaret - is actually its ancient form. There are 2 languages on this country, contemporary one, and an ancient form that is used only for historical and ceremonial purposes. In spoken language country's name sounds nowadays more like Karit.
Flag
Flag of Saaret consists of two blue fields; lower one representing the sea, and upper one representing the sky, and between these two fields is located a white, serrated line. There are two explanations for it. It is commonly thought to represent white-capped waves of sea, but actually it points to snow-covered mountaintops. Legends have it that people of Saaret initially came from a very mountainous place.
Geography
The Islands
The easternmost island, the biggest one, got its name from thousands boobies that lived there with other sea birds, producing valuable fertilizer, guano. In old language the name of this island was Suulasaari, but now it's been shortened to Sulsri. Kstma, the capital city, originally Kalasatama, is located here.
The smallest island, Kviri, originally Kivisaari, is located relatively near to the head island. Its topography is lower than that of the other two islands, and it is thereby more vulnerable to the tropical storms. Kviri is very rocky and dry place. Saaretians used to say that Kviri is just a useless flat slab of rock. There are no natural source of fresh water, but artificial water making machines are used to produce water. It is, however, very popular place for extremists who love to risk their lives in diving amongst the dangerous rocky underwater formations that circle Kviri. Seawater is crystal clear, and many exotic - and dangerous - fishes and sea animals live there.
The third island, Rta, originally Helmiriutta, is perhaps the most peaceful and beautiful island of Saaret. Like Sulsri, it has an excellent harbour, sheltered from storms, and there are fresh water and woods in abundance. Capital of Saaret is located on Sulsri, but on Rta lies the most popular university, and lots of small handicraft and artists' workshops. There are pearl farms producing the most beautiful pearls of Daia, and jewellery that is elaborately designed from pearls, nacre, or coral is very desired by tourists.

History
The origin of the saaretians is not known, but they have legends about a very long journey over ice-covered waters from north. They believe - and their flag still shows - that their original home was mountainous. According to the legends saaretians had to escape icy storms and glaciers that began surprisingly fast to cover their homeland. People had to take all their belongings and run for their lives. After long journey that took its toll in form of many thousands lost lives they found a group of islands which they invaded and claimed to be theirs for ever. The islands were empty from human beings, so there were no objections. Of course an escape from their assumed northern home was not so quickly made; probably it took decades.
People
Saaretians are small-sized, delicately built and beautiful people. Average male height is 170 cm and female 150 cm. Saaretians have hazel, green or yellow eyes, their hair colour vary from light brown to black, and colour of their skin vary from golden honey to deep bronze. In some families, however, exist taller and more robust individuals, whose length can be up to 200 cm. They have red hair, milky white skin and very pale blue or grey eyes. They are considered to be genetic remnants of saaretians' northern ancestors, but scientists still argue about it. Saaretians are very clever, adaptive, and innovative people. They have rich oral tradition that includes poems and songs. Because there were, according to scientists, no more that 3000 - 4000 individuals left at the time when saaretians conquered their islands, they are still very homogeneous people in genetics and traditions. There are few families, which have some hereditary special ability or other, and those families are highly respected, but there are no real aristocrats nor noblesse. Saaretians traditionally value working, and counterbalancing this hard working, they love to have fun. Different festivals and feasts are held very often and out of the most insignificant reasons. Beneficial climate has not turn saaretians to lazy slackers. On the contrary, they are very diligent both in working and in fun-making.
