Saitlaa, in the native scipt also spelled as 사잍쨔, is a minority language on Alléteþ, in Samarkainia. It is a language isolate and no connections to other languages have been successfully proved yet. The language also has its own ancient script called Püikjaš (픠깠).

Grammar

Nouns

Nouns in Saitlaa are marked for genders, numbers and cases.

Gender

There are three genders, each recognised by the final letter of a noun:

  1. Animate nouns: -č, -d, -g, -m, -ls, -lt
  2. Inanimate nouns: -k, -l, -o, -š, -lħ
  3. Neuter/common gender: -a, -aa, -oi, -ue

Number

There are three nominal numbers in Saitlaa, singular, dual and plural. Singular is unmarked, the other two numbers are marked by a particle which is placed after the noun it modifies.

  • Dual particle: üing
  • Plural particle: oing

Case

Nouns in Saitlaa are declined for six cases in one declension. Cases are marked by particles that precede the noun.

  1. Nominative: unmarked
  2. Genitive: nong
  3. Dative: küng
  4. Accusative: ring
  5. Locative: heng
  6. Oblique: pång

The nominative case is unmarked when the noun the subject of the sentence, when it is not, the noun in the nominative case is marked by the particle ööng.

Adjectives

Adjectives in Saitlaa end on either -nħ or -anħ. They are placed after the noun they modify. When the noun is declined, the noun and the modifying adjective (or adjectives) is connected with the noun by the particle ääng.

Verbs

Verbs in Saitlaa are conjugated for three moods, three tenses and two aspects. These verbal modifiers are marked by particles and are placed after the verb in this order: verb - aspect - mood - tense - subject.

Verbs end on -b, -p or -s.

When negated, the particle ang is placed before the verb.
